1. Procam International Private Limited (PIPL) promoted races namely Tata Mumbai Marathon, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, TCS World 10K Bengaluru and Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata(Event/s).
Procam International Private Limited is committed to creating a fair, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender at birth, sexual orientation, religion, disability, socio-economic status, or any other protected characteristic. This policy is designed to ensure that every participant, volunteer, and official in the Event is treated with dignity and respect, in alignment with Indian laws and the World Athletics (formerly IAAF) guidelines.
The purpose of this Anti-Discrimination Policy is to uphold the principles of equality, fairness, and respect for all individuals involved in the Events. The policy aims to prevent any form of discrimination and promote a race environment where all participants have an equal opportunity of fair competition and participation.
2. Scope: This policy applies to all participants (runners, coaches, support staff), volunteers, spectators, officials, and any other individuals associated with the Events. It applies during all stages of the event, including registration, pre-participation, participation, and post-race activities.
3. Prohibited Discriminatory Practices:The following forms of discrimination are strictly prohibited during the Events:
Racial Discrimination: Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, or national origin.
Gender Discrimination: Discrimination based on gender at birth and unfair treatment towards individuals based on the same.
Disability Discrimination: Discrimination against individuals with physical or mental disabilities.
Religious Discrimination: Discrimination based on an individual’s religion, belief system, or practice.
Sexual Orientation Discrimination: Discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Age Discrimination: Discrimination based on age, including treating individuals unfairly due to their youth or seniority.
Socio-economic Discrimination: Discrimination based on economic status, class, or access to resources.
Harassment: Any verbal, physical, or visual conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment for an individual or group based on their protected characteristics.
4. Legal Compliance:This policy is consistent with Indian laws, including but not limited to:
The Constitution of India guarantees equality before the law and prohibits discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, or place of birth (Article 15).
The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 ensures equal opportunities for people with disabilities, including in sports.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 provides protection against gender-based discrimination and harassment.
Bhartiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) sections concerning hate speech, discrimination, and harassment etc..
Additionally, the policy aligns with the World Athletics (IAAF) guidelines on non-discrimination, fair play, and respect in athletics competitions.
5. Reporting and Accountability:
Reporting Mechanism: Any individual who believes they have been subjected to discrimination during the event should immediately report the incident to the race organizers, either in person at the Event’s designated help desk or via the official Event website’s complaint portal. Complaints will be handled confidentially and impartially.
Investigation: All complaints will be investigated promptly by the designated race officials, and action will be taken as necessary, based on the nature of the complaint.
Retaliation: Retaliation against any individual who files a complaint of discrimination is strictly prohibited and will be treated as a serious violation of this policy.
6. Sanctions:
For Participants: Any participant found violating this policy may face immediate disqualification from the event, removal from the premises, or other disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate by PIPL.
For Officials or Volunteers: Any official, volunteer, or organizer found guilty of discriminatory actions will face sanctions, including suspension, removal from their role, or a permanent ban from future events.
For Spectators: Any spectator engaging in discriminatory conduct, harassment, or violence may be removed from the event.
7. Accommodating persons with disabilities: PIPL shall ensure accessible routes, facilities, and assistance to participants with disabilities. PIPL shall also ensure that participants can compete safely and equitably.
8. Education and Training: All participants, officials, and volunteers will be provided with access to training on anti-discrimination practices before the Event. This will ensure that all individuals understand their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of fostering an inclusive environment.
9. Commitment to Inclusion: PIPL is committed to fostering an inclusive culture where athletes of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities feel respected and supported. PIPL shall regularly review this policy and take necessary steps to promote diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the race, including marketing, recruitment, and community outreach.
