DICKEY PALZOM BHUTIA

BIO

Introducing Dickey, whose story is an inspiration to all of us. Presently aged 44, she wasn't always an athletic person. For much of Dickey’s life, especially after marriage, she was immersed in household responsibilities and running their household business. Her health started to decline after she gave birth to her children, and at one point, she weighed 98 kilograms. That’s when she realized she needed to make a change.

Determined to create a healthier lifestyle for herself, both physically and mentally, she took up running with her husband. It wasn’t easy at first - far from it. But she had made up her mind to work hard for it, and slowly, her life began to transform. Today, she weighs 66 kilograms and has participated in several marathons across India.

What Dickey is most proud of is the way she carries her roots with her. Her ancestral country is Tibet, and she always displays the Tibetan flag during every marathon she participates in. For Dickey, running has not only been a personal journey of transformation, but also a way to motivate others. She takes every opportunity to share her story on various platforms, hoping to inspire those who need that push to begin their own journey, believing running is the best way to do so.

Dickey is also thrilled to announce that her “Procam Slam” journey, which began in Delhi, is culminating in Bangalore. Running has become a platform for her to connect, inspire, and honor her heritage—and she is proud to call herself an Indian.
